Kapi Privacy Policy
Version 1.1 · Last updated: 7 September 2026
Your learning stays on your device. Apple and RevenueCat handle purchases; RevenueCat also provides purchase analytics. If you contact us, we receive your message and contact details. Kapi has no login, advertising SDK or analytics that reports your study activity.
1. Who is responsible
Kapi is made by Zarif Raiyan Arefeen, a sole trader in New South Wales, Australia. We are responsible for the personal information we process for Kapi, including as controller where that term applies.
Contact: zarif.arefein@gmail.com.
This policy covers the iOS app, widgets and our handling of support messages and Kapi website or social-media enquiries. Third-party platforms also have their own policies.
2. Learning and settings on your device
The app and its widgets share a private on-device container. Your known characters, review schedule, check answers, activity, sentence history and preferences are stored there. We do not upload this learning history. Some histories have size limits, so older entries are removed as new ones arrive.
Settings → Reset all progress clears your learning history and restarts the current level. It keeps your preferences, onboarding state and purchase access. Reminder switches remain as you set them; enabled reminders may be scheduled again from the reset state. To change preferences or reminders, use Settings.
Deleting the app removes its local installation data according to iOS behaviour. Copies may remain in device backups you control; offloading the app keeps its documents and data. Resetting or deleting Kapi does not cancel your Apple subscription or delete purchase records held by Apple or RevenueCat.
3. Reminders and speech
Reminders are off by default. If you enable one, iOS asks for notification permission. Kapi schedules these notifications locally. You can change individual reminders in Kapi or disable all Kapi notifications in iOS Settings.
Speech uses iOS text-to-speech. Kapi passes the displayed reading to the system speech service; Kapi does not upload your speech, record your microphone or operate a speech server. Apple controls system voices and any voice downloads.
4. Purchases and purchase analytics
When purchase services are configured, RevenueCat creates a random app user ID for this installation. It processes that ID, App Store receipt or transaction information, product and entitlement status, trial information, and technical information needed to provide its service, such as app/SDK versions, platform, locale and currency. Apple processes payment and maintains your Apple purchase history. Kapi does not receive your card details.
We use purchase information to unlock access, restore purchases, prevent fraud and understand purchases, trials, renewals and cancellations through RevenueCat's dashboard. This is purchase analytics; it is separate from your on-device study history.
The random ID is pseudonymous: it is not your name or Apple Account login. If you send it to us with an email or support request, we can associate the purchase record with that correspondence. We do not add your name or email to RevenueCat customer attributes through the app.
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, purchase fulfilment relies on performing our contract with you. Fraud prevention and purchase analytics rely on our legitimate interests in protecting and improving the service, subject to your rights. Purchase records are retained while needed to administer your purchase and these purposes, subject to deletion requests and any legal retention requirements.
A copy of your access status remains on your device so the app and widgets can check access offline. It is kept separately from study progress.
5. Support and privacy requests
If you email us, we receive your email address, any name your mail app includes, your message and attachments. Report a mistake prepares app version, iOS version, level and the relevant character for you to review before sending. A purchase or privacy request may also include the purchase ID you choose to share.
We use this information to answer you, resolve problems and handle your rights. Where applicable, the basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, performance of a contract when helping with a purchase, or a legal obligation for a statutory request. Sending a message is voluntary; it is not consent to marketing.
We normally delete support correspondence within 12 months after resolving it. Information needed for a dispute or a legal obligation may be retained longer for that purpose. We do not ask for card numbers, Apple Account passwords or identity documents as a routine support step.
6. Who handles information
- Apple: App Store purchases, payment, refunds and system services, under Apple's privacy policy.
- RevenueCat, Inc.: purchase administration and analytics on our behalf. See RevenueCat's privacy policy and Data Processing Addendum.
- Google: our Gmail support mailbox stores the messages you send. See Google's privacy policy.
- GitHub: the public legal pages are hosted using GitHub Pages. Visiting them sends normal web request information, including your IP address and browser information, to the host. See GitHub's privacy statement.
Kapi contains no advertising SDK, tracking identifier collection or third-party service that uploads your study activity. If this changes, we will update the disclosures and obtain any permission the law or platform requires before the new processing starts.
7. Social media
When you visit our posts or advertisements on another platform, that platform processes information under its own policy. We may receive campaign statistics and see information you make available, such as comments, a profile name or a direct message. We use enquiries to respond and manage those pages. We do not receive only totals: a message or public comment can identify its sender.
The app does not contain TikTok or Meta SDKs and does not send your learning history to advertising platforms. This does not prevent a platform from measuring activity within its own service.
8. International handling
We are in Australia. RevenueCat operates in the United States, and our service providers may process information in other countries. Their policies and published subprocessors explain their locations.
RevenueCat's Data Processing Addendum includes EU Standard Contractual Clauses and a UK transfer addendum for covered restricted transfers. Where applicable, we use required contractual or other lawful safeguards for international transfers. Contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your information.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live and the applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, an available portable copy, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can withdraw a permission you gave, without affecting processing already lawfully carried out. Some requests have lawful exceptions, which we will explain.
- Learning history: use Settings → Reset all progress. This does not reset all settings or remove your purchase.
- Purchase record: use Copy purchase ID in Kapi, then email zarif.arefein@gmail.com with your request and that ID. If the ID is unavailable, email us and we will explain another proportionate way to locate the record.
- Correspondence: email us from the address you used, where possible, and tell us which information your request concerns.
- Subscription cancellation: use Manage subscription in Kapi or Apple's subscription settings. Deleting a RevenueCat record is not cancellation.
We respond without undue delay, normally within 30 days, or sooner if the law requires. If a permitted extension or retention exception applies, we explain it and its reason. We may ask for limited additional information to verify a request; knowing an ID alone is not permission to erase someone else's record.
Deleting the RevenueCat customer record does not delete Apple's transaction history. Opening Kapi or restoring a purchase afterwards can create a RevenueCat record again to administer access. We will explain the effect before processing a deletion request.
You can complain to your local privacy regulator. In Australia this is the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner; in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office; in the EU, your national supervisory authority.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not discriminate against people for exercising applicable privacy rights.
10. Children
Kapi is intended for adult learners and is not directed to children. We do not request a date of birth. Purchase services and support can process personal information even though learning history stays on the device. If you believe we have processed a child's information unlawfully, contact us so we can investigate and take the required action. Age, consent and parental-authority rules depend on the applicable law.
11. Security
iOS isolates the app's storage, and your device security protects access to it. Purchase connections are encrypted and Kapi checks RevenueCat's response verification before accepting a new access result. No service can promise absolute security. We will assess an incident and notify affected people and authorities when the law requires, using the contact methods available to us.
12. Changes and contact
We update the version and date when this policy changes and provide notice of material changes where required. Earlier versions are available on request.
